World Aids Day

World Aids Day takes place on Monday 1st December.

This is a chance to show support for those living with HIV, to commemorate those that have died, and to encourage greater awareness of HIV. Over 100, 000 people in the UK live with HIV – more than a quarter of whom are unaware they have it – and over 34 million world wide suffer from this virus. The tagline for this year’s World Aids Day is #PutARibbonOnIt, with the idea being to decorate as many things as possible (including yourself!) with the red Aids ribbon, to raise awareness.

As part of promotion of World Aids Day around campus, the lights on the Riverside East building will glow red for the entire day. Additionally there will be extra promotion in the way of the smart screens and extra posters in all the university buildings. There will also be information available outside the Student Union in University Street.
