Big Pink Day October 2015

In October, events took place across the country as part of Big Pink Day in aid of Breast Cancer Care. RGU staff and students joined in!

Think Pink for Breast Cancer 2015

Pharmacy and Life Sciences (PALS) staff and students raised an amazing £943.36 on Friday 19 October. Breast Cancer Care Big Pink Day is part of breast cancer awareness month, which aims to raise the profile not just of the disease but about the help and advice that is available to women with breast cancer and those around them that care for them.

Homemade Pink drinks were sold, supporters wore something pink for the day and making a donation, there was a  ‘Guess The Number of Pink Sweets in the Jar’ competition, and a  ‘Guess What’s in the Big Pink’. Even the technicians made a fantastic effort by wearing pink wigs and bling.

Just as importantly, some Pharmacy students had over 200 breast awareness conversations with other students (from across the University) and distributed 100 Taking Care of your Breasts leaflets. Some of the activities and photos were tweeted on the day with #bccBigPink, but if you would like to refer back to them the Twitter handle is @RGUPharmacy.
